Assignment 1 - Balance

James (Tony) Lang
Assignment 1 - Balance
27 January 2015

This assignment was really a jump of the deep end into the world of art for me. I have never considered design before this semester and all the classes I am taking have overlapped in some way about elements within design. On this first project we were supposed to focus on Imbalance,
Bilateral Symmetry, Radial Symmetry and Asymmetrical Balance and though my craft needs work I believe I represented these as though I do fully understand the concepts behind them. Asymmetrical Balance was the hardest for me to understand and then craft but as the next assignment focuses on this I should hopefully have a better grasp on it. This first assignment forced me to pull the trigger and work and not be afraid to fail which has really stopped me in the past from creating anything. I often get overwhelmed with the idea of failure or struggling through hours of work to completely screw it up. Even though I am proud of finishing this piece I do think I can do better and better as we continue through this semester. I hope to improve when it comes to cutting, using the rubber cement effectively and placement. I have feel I know the basics in my head but when it comes to my hands and actually executing it, I still come up short, so I need to keep at it.
